THE BRIEF

OFFICIAL SELECTION – BRITISH DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

A short documentary to lead Youth Music’s most ambitious fundraising campaign to date.

Rescue the Roots is a call-to-arms for the music industry to address the threat posed to grassroots music services funding in the UK. Through the touching stories of Osman, Nyrobi and Leah, we see the role access to music plays in the lives of diverse young people across the country, as well as the light it offers to those suffering with struggles like poor mental health, chronic disability, or a history of trauma.

These human stories offer only a glimpse of the tapestry of the inspirational young people pursuing a career in music today, but to recognise the thousands of other young people in similar situations as them is a compelling argument for the continuation of the grassroots music services community.

With this film and in the face of ever-increasing financial hardship, Youth Music are asking the music industry to rescue the roots.
